Healthcare

Bringing healthcare to your pocket

A mobile-first health platform connecting citizens in Iraq and the wider Arab world with doctors, clinics, pharmacies, labs, and more.

The Challenge

Understanding the problem

Accessing healthcare in Iraq often means long travel, crowded waiting rooms, and relying on word-of-mouth to find a doctor or service. Patients repeat their history at every visit, carry papers and physical documents between providers, losing time and money in the process. At the same time, smartphone usage is widespread and mobile data is relatively affordable. There was a clear opportunity to use mobile technology to simplify access to care, but any solution had to be simple enough for first-time digital users, work with existing clinics and pharmacies, and support both quick telemedicine visits and more complex care journeys.

Our Approach

Designing the solution

We treated Sihatec as a guided journey rather than a static directory. Patients start by creating a profile and can then search by city, specialty, or service type. From there, they can either book an appointment or launch a live video visit with a doctor, therapist, or specialist. The experience is designed around clear, plain-language steps: what you can do on this screen, why it matters, and what will happen next.

Key Features

What we built

Mobile Patient Portal & Directory

Create profiles, store medical information, and find doctors and services by specialty and location.

Telemedicine Layer

Live, on-demand video consultations with licensed physicians, available 24/7 to reduce unnecessary in-person visits.

Orders & Referrals System

Doctors can request X-rays, MRI, blood tests, and refer patients to radiology, laboratories, physiotherapy, homecare, and pharmacies.

Digital File Management

Papers, images, and discs are scanned and stored as patient-linked files rather than being lost between visits.

Electronic Prescriptions

Prescriptions sent directly to the patient's chosen pharmacy, so they know exactly where to go and what to collect.

Provider Tools & Interoperability

Medical professionals can access and share records, submit lab requests, refer to specialists, and integrate with existing systems.

The Impact

How it changes day-to-day operations

For patients, Sihatec reduces the need to travel for routine care and follow-up, makes it easier to find trusted doctors and services, and keeps prescriptions and test results in one place. Parents can reach paediatricians quickly, and people living with chronic conditions can manage their health with more consistent support. For providers and institutions, Sihatec acts as a digital front door and a standard way to request, track, and complete tests, referrals, and prescriptions. Over time, it becomes part of the country's digital health infrastructure.
